Henderson began in 1941 as a townsite for workers at the Basic Magnesium plant, built to make magnesium for World War II, and became a city in 1953. Today it has a quieter, suburban feel, with the Las Vegas Strip, major employers, shopping, dining and entertainment all within easy reach.
The city is home to several well-known master-planned communities, including Green Valley, Green Valley Ranch, Anthem, Inspirada and Seven Hills, each with its own mix of homes, parks and schools.
Many Henderson neighborhoods have walking trails, community parks, recreation centers and golf courses. Lake Mead National Recreation Area and the River Mountains Loop Trail are close by for hiking, biking and time on the water.
Henderson's high end is spread across several distinct communities. Guard-gated MacDonald Highlands climbs the McCullough Mountain foothills around the private DragonRidge Country Club, and Ascaya, also guard-gated, offers move-in-ready homes and estate homesites in the same mountain range. On the city's eastern edge, Lake Las Vegas wraps around a 320-acre lake and has two Jack Nicklaus golf courses. You'll also find Anthem Country Club, The Estates at Seven Hills, Hillsboro Heights and The Estates at Green Valley Ranch. Prices, HOA dues and rules vary a lot from one to the next, so it pays to tour a few before you narrow it down.
In 2026, Brady Luxury Homes closed several sales of new Blue Heron homes at Lake Las Vegas, and in October we represented the buyer on a resale elsewhere in Henderson.
